After dozens of years online, I thought I was too smart to get caught with a phishing email – but no one is immune. See what happened – and what saved me. And be sure to share YOUR experiences with phishing emails!

I had to admit, when I got this article from my friend Jay Jennings I was curious. After all, I’ve spent the past few months beefing up my video skills and posting videos on YouTube. What did he mean “audio is better?” Read on – then I’ll share my perspective at the end of the article.
Everybody and their brother is putting video on their sites — one reason is that it’s proven to increase sales.
Okay, so there’s obviously a place for video online, but don’t for a MINUTE think you need to shoot video in order to increase your sales, because audio has also been proven to increase sales.
But isn’t audio tired and old-school?

What if you could hire someone to run your business – a Director of Operations. And you gave them an unlimited budget for hiring the people they needed to get the job done?
What would you tell them to do today? My list would look like this:
1. Build the new optin page for ____. Write the autoresponder sequence for 10 days of follow-up. Upload it to the autoresponder service. Turn the promotion of the page over to the social marketing team. Start a PPC campaign, including finding the keywords and writing the ads.

This is strictly for fun! Just a big of background – I’m taking the Video Sales Tactics course with Robert Plank & Lance Tamashiro. It’s a great course and I’m loving it! Robert & Lance surprised me with the custom TechTamers flip camera at a recent meeting here in Austin. Then I won the new Gorilla Tripod in one of the contests for the video course. Prior to that I had my teeny tiny Flip camera on top of our commercial grade tripod – it was pretty funny.
I’m not sure how long I’ll leave the video up because it’s on the edge in terms of some of the production values. But while it’s here – enjoy!
Like everyone else, I sigh when the latest “you must upgrade or you’ll die” alert arrives at my blog. After all, this isn’t the only blog I have. I have dozens of blogs, so each time we must upgrade it’s a daunting task. So I’m tempted to just stuff that upgrade notice in the trash can and go about my business.
Don’t do it! There are a number of reasons to upgrade – foremost of which is security. While it takes a while to upgrade your blog (okay, maybe 10 minutes per blog with the new auto-upgrade capability), it takes a LOT longer to rebuild your blog – if you can at all!
This well-written article from WordPress themselves reinforces the need to upgrade when they announce it. So take a deep breath and bite the bullet. You’ll survive online longer!
Will you give up – or fire up? That’s the burning question you should be asking yourself. Today is September 23. There are 100 days to go in 2009.
So what are you going to do with those 100 days? Will you keep doing what you’ve been doing?
If you’ve had a great year you may be tempted to keep doing what you’ve been doing. After all, look at all you have accomplished! But judging by your success you are more likely to Fire Up!
And if you’ve had a bad year – NOW is the time to CHANGE what you’ve been doing. Fire Up! You can achieve a LOT in just 100 days – you just need to Fire Up your efforts!

There is a lot of confusion in the market place as to what a joint venture is – and how that works with your business.
