Many people feel like they’re gambling when they choose a a PLR product to sell. After all, there is no cut-and-dried formula for finding a topic and a product that people are sure to buy.

Reel 1 is your topic. You “spin” and it spits out a topic that you may or may not be interested in. Let’s say you’re looking at the fitness industry as your target market. The topic reel may have lose weight, chair exercise, steel abs, toned arms, etc.
Reel 2 is your market segments. It has the markets that are interested in fitness: men, women, teens, women over 30, men over 50, senior women over 65, busy executives, stay at home moms, retirees, bicyclers.
Reel 3 is your main benefit. In the case of fitness is may be get back into shape after the baby, attract the opposite sex, have more dates, live longer.
Now that you have your “reels” set up, it’s just a matter of spinning:
Spin 1: Lose Weight | Retirees | Have More Dates
Does that work for you? If not, spin again…
Spin 2: Chair Exercise | Busy Executives | Live Longer
Now that would appear to work! So you now know you are looking for a chair exercise product you can use to target busy executives.
It could be an audio product they could listen to at their desk; a video product they could watch and follow on their computer; or a set of cards they could print and shuffle when they have 3 minutes to spare.
Like gambling, there is no “sure thing” when it comes to choosing a niche and a product. But using a simple technique like the Slot Machine Method can make it more fun and help you narrow your choices faster.

This is a really imaginative and fun post Jeanette. I won’t tell you how long I kept clicking on the the picture of the slot machine to make it spin. 🙂
I have a couple of PLR products and I am looking forward to learning how to put them to good use in the DotComJumpStart Course.
Playing ’til I hit the JACKPOT,
Charles
Charles – that’s funny! I tried to find a great animation, but I kept spinning the wheel looking for a different outcome, so thought that would be too big a temptation.
Just keep at it – and you WILL hit the jackpot!

Jeanette…
Once again a brilliant strategy and I don’t even do PLR.
But, I can use this to come up with new products is my niche markets. I’m already scrolling through great ideas for each of my reels.
Thanks so much
Pat Wiklund
Cool! I KNOW you will be able to leverage this into multiple products. I’m trying to figure out what it will take to turn it into a real application. Wouldn’t that be fun?
Jeanette
This is a great way to look at the process. I know that it will benefit me to look at it that way even though my primary niche is chosen – it will still help.
As usual thanks for giving us so many different ways to look at things
Terrie
Thanks! I’ve been trying to come up with an easy-to-understand system for doing this and this hit me this morning. Glad you find it helpful.

Jeanette:
This is a brilliant senerio of the Slot machine method.
Since I am a newbie, when it comes to PLR products I feel more sure about them since they may have come for people who have been around the block a few times rather than from me who have not yet created a product.
I will certainy keep your tips in mind when looking and choosing my products.
Thank you for your ideas! Much appreciated!
Sandra
Glad that’s helpful, Sandra. I think it’s always good to use familiar analogies when learning something new – and besides, it’s fun! You’ll find PLR products a valuable start to an online business – and a good way to continue to expand an existing business.

Hello from beautiful Montana:
Hey, this makes sense. Those of us who have visual learning styles have difficulty processing information given in a verbal way.
It will be fun to use this on some of my other products that are not selling as well as I would hope.
thanks,
Judy H. Wright
LOVE the Slot Machine Method! Very creative and a great way to find untapped niche markets you wouldn’t ordinarily consider.
Plus it’s a lot of fun. One of our DotComJumpstart students sent a spreadsheet app of the slot machine – it’s pretty cool! So looks like we’re getting closer to an application. That WILL be fun!
