RANT: Aweber Users Must Read This

by Jeanette

It just happened again. I was listening to a webinar – about 20 minutes into it and checking a few things in the background as I listened (you do know that everyone multi-tasks on a webinar, right?)  So I sign up for an offer and a small window pops up with the standard Aweber “you need to confirm your email so watch for it” message. I close the window.

And boom! My entire browser closes! Yes, for SOME reason, the standard aweber confirmation window resizes your browser – your ENTIRE browser – to make it look like a little popup in the upper left corner of your screen. The first instinct is to close that irritating popup.

So please – if you use aweber as your autoresponder service (I do for some of my optin pages), do NOT use their default confirmation page. Instead, create a custom landing page of your own. Technically you should have a custom landing page for each autoresponder sequence. If you do a lot of work with aweber, then at least create your OWN custom landing page where you can send all of your messages.

Money-making tip: Any time you send someone somewhere after they optin, it should either be to a sales page or to a custom confirmation that that has an offer on it. At least go over and pick up an affiliate banner and add it to the page! Otherwise, you’re just giving away money – and irritating your subscribers at the same time by having that default confirmation window.

Brilliant Tactic From Amazon

by Jeanette

Add to Amazon WishlistSo I’m shopping for holiday gifts and adding a few things to my wishlist at Amazon, when I notice I can use their Wishlist plugin on Firefox to add ANYthing from ANY site to my wishlist.

My first thought: How generous of them to share their wishlist space with other vendors.

After all, it makes it easy for me to keep track of all the things I want for myself as well as those things I’m shopping for for others. It’s all in one place.

My second thought: Brilliant! They are building a list of what Read More→

Deal Site Update

by Jeanette

I promised to share the information about the Deal software I’m using. It’s called Easy Deal Builder.

Right now it’s only $37 – BUT they are taking it off the market on Tuesday. They will re-introduce it in 2014 – but at $197.

Interestingly, this follows perfect logic, according to a small report you can pick up here (opens in new window)

Udemy Course Instructors

If you are teaching on Udemy, you can set up a “deal” on your deal site that helps enroll more students.

Here’s how it works:

1. Using the sales video you have on Udemy, resize it to 480×270 to put on your Deal Site.

2. Take screenshots of your existing sales letter from Udemy and add to your Deal page.

3. Set the price to be a great deal for prospective students.

4. After they purchase your deal, give them the coupon code for Udemy.

Remember, the Easy Deal Builder software is being taken off the market Tuesday. (I’m not sure what time.)

So you need to get your copy of the software NOW!

Doing It The Hard Way

by Jeanette

How often have you found yourself doing something the “hard way” rather than taking the time to figure out an easier solution?

I just did it again. Here I was summarizing the blog posts that talked about lessons learned and results from the blog challenge – but I was doing it the HARD way! You see I was: Read More→

The Challenge of RSS Feeds

by Jeanette

One of the observations I’ve made during the Blog Challenge is that many people were confused and confounded by the RSS feed.

First, let’s review WHY the RSS feed is important. It’s used by both individuals and search engines.

Individuals use the RSS feed to subscribe to the list of your blog articles. If they use an RSS reader (or their email program) it automatically updates each time you post an article. It’s an easy way for them to keep up with what you’re writing. Read More→

Social Media’s Impact

by Jeanette

We take social media for granted. After all, we’re tweeting regularly. We check our Facebook account several times per day – or per week. We probably have a LinkedIn account.

But it might all be relatively new to you. After all, these “social media” services haven’t been around THAT long. It was just a couple of years ago that no one knew what Twitter was and only college kids were using Facebook. You still talk to people who don’t know a Twitter from a tweet.

So what’s the state of social media? This video says it well:

So what do you think? Are you surprised by any of the statistics revealed here? Would you agree or disagree?

Has social media use by Big Business helped or hurt the individuals who are using it?

Where do you see it going? There are just so many ways you could view this – and I’d love to get your input!
