Pinterest: Profile Of A Super Pinner

by Jeanette Cates

Pinterest Super PinnerAs we are learning what Pinterest means and what it can do for you, it’s good to notice best practices among those who have been on Pinterest for a while. They are what I would call Super Pinners.

I found Stephanie Sterling among my followers. I don’t know her “in real life” so it was a cold call to her Pinterest page. (I click to see each of my followers’ pins before following them back.)

What I saw on Stephanie’s page was very impressive.

Pinterest Entrepreneurs

by Jeanette Cates

One of the reasons I love working with small business owners like you is the level of ambition and creativity that is displayed daily. And Pinterest has brought out some very creative ideas.

One woman has become the “Pin Up Girl” for a local newspaper, just reporting on a different topic every week from Pinterest. She doesn’t need to create any content from scratch – she just reviews what’s already pinned in that category.

So one week she reviewed some of her favorite pins from container gardening. The next week she showed pinned yarn decorations. Talk about an easy way to create content! Read More→

Are You Pinsane?

by Jeanette Cates

I have to admit that when I first heard about Pinterest, it didn’t grab my attention. It sounded like a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to market there. After all it’s for arts, crafts and hobbyists – right? At least that’s what I thought – Until I got an email from my good friend ecommerce strategist Lisa Suttora saying …

“Jeanette, why aren’t you on Pinterest?!??”

I replied   “Why would I be?”

Now if you’ve ever met Lisa, when it comes to  emerging marketing trends, she’s always on the leading edge. But she’s not just a trend spotter. She always digs deep to understand WHY a new marketing opportunity has potential and then tests it to see if it can produce results. And next thing I know, I’m getting email after email from Lisa with supporting stats, figures, examples, case studies, market research showing me EXACTLY how to market my business on Pinterest!

“OK!” I said “Send me an invite!”

Well since then to say I’m “pinterested” would be an understatement.  So much so that I even went through Lisa’s brand new 4 part video series Pinterest for Ecommerce.

It was then I saw the real power of Pinterest for business as a way reach new customers and sell more products.

Until now, Lisa has only made this course available to her private coaching students, but I told her this was too good not to share.  :-)   So for the next 48 hours, you can get a copy of this step-by-step,  4-part video series at a special introductory price.

You’ll see clearly why Pinterest is not a fad , but has some real marketing teeth.

And you’ll be pinning for profits by the end of the 4th video! You can see what I’ve pinned on my Pinterest account.

As it turns out, Lisa is not the only one who sees the value in Pinterest for marketing. Heavy hitters like Forbes, CNN, Tech Crunch, and the Wall Street Journal are all talking about the Power of Pinterest! Shouldn’t you be using
it too?

Social Media’s Impact

by Jeanette Cates

We take social media for granted. After all, we’re tweeting regularly. We check our Facebook account several times per day – or per week. We probably have a LinkedIn account.

But it might all be relatively new to you. After all, these “social media” services haven’t been around THAT long. It was just a couple of years ago that no one knew what Twitter was and only college kids were using Facebook. You still talk to people who don’t know a Twitter from a tweet.

So what’s the state of social media? This video says it well:

So what do you think? Are you surprised by any of the statistics revealed here? Would you agree or disagree?

Has social media use by Big Business helped or hurt the individuals who are using it?

Where do you see it going? There are just so many ways you could view this – and I’d love to get your input!

Networked Blogs: You Need Followers

by Jeanette Cates

In order for your blog to appear in the Networked Blogs application and to show in your Facebook account, there are two steps:

1. You need to confirm that you are the owner of the blog. If you added the code to your blog, it has probably already been verified.

If you are not technical, then just wait for the first 10 people to follow your blog.

2. I recommend you add the Networked Blogs widget to your blog in a prominent location. It makes it easier for people to see how to follow your blog. You’ll find the widget when you Edit your blog in Networked Blogs. Just copy that code and paste it into a text widget.

3. Invite friends to follow your blog in Networked Blogs. You can do that IN the Networked Blogs application, or you can send tweets or post to your Wall in Facebook.

If you want to follow someone’s blog on Networked Blogs
, follow this easy process:

1. Log into your Facebook account.

2. Go to their blog and click on the Networked Blogs widget. (You can practice by clicking on my Networked Blogs widget there to your right.)

3. You’re finished!

If they don’t have the Networked Blogs widget, then just search for their blog URL in the Networked Blogs application. Once you find it, click to follow.

Networked Blogs: How To Set It Up

by Jeanette Cates

You’ve decided to add your blog to Networked Blogs. So here are the steps to follow:

1. Log into your Facebook account.

2. Click on Applications on the left sidebar.

3. Search for Networked Blogs in the search box at the top of the page.

4. Allow the application.

5. Click to Register a New Blog.

6. Enter your information. You CAN come back and edit it later, so if you feel at a loss for words, then do your best. But keep going!

If you prefer watching to reading, you’ll enjoy this short 3-minute video from Connie Ragen Green.

Watch the video – opens in new window

Your next step is to verify that you own the blog. While you can wait for 10 people to follow you, I found it faster to add the code they provide at Networked Blogs to my blog. Just set it up as directed and you’ll be verified in no time.
