As a participant in the 30-Day Blog Challenge you’ll get two things immediately – more blog posts for your blog and more traffic to your blog. But you can expand those results by adding a few more things to your blog challenge experience.
1. Track your traffic.
There is a WordPress plugin for Google Analytics. You want to install that as soon as you decide to join the blog challenge. Because traffic is one of the indicators of how you’re doing.By looking at your traffic statistics in Google Analytics, you’ll be able to see how many unique visitors you have, how long they’ve spent on your site (longer is better because it means they found something of interest to them), how many pages they visited (again higher interest), and where they are coming from.
This last statistic is important because it will show you which sites are sending you traffic. It will definitely include Twitter since you are tweeting about each of your blog posts. It will also show which other blogs are sending visitors your way so that you can encourage them even more!
2. Increase your subscribers.
Having more traffic is great. But it doesn’t generate any revenue. That’s why it’s so important for you to have a way to start to monetize your work in the blog challenge.
Naturally you’ll refer people to your products and to affiliate products as you write about them in blog posts. But those are just one-time readers. You want to get them to read your information more often – and you do that by building a list.
In order to build a list on your blog, you need to either use a plugin or a script that will add people to your list.
3. Build your backlinks.
One of the ways the search engines judge the popularity of your site is by the number of links that lead back to your site. And one way you can build the number of links coming back to your site is to comment on other blog posts.
That’s why we built the strong recommendation to comment on others’ blogs into the blog challenge. Not only are you building relationships, but you’re also building links back to your blog. So remember to include your blog URL or the URL to a specific blog post when you comment on others’ blogs.
4. Plan your content.
Several prior participants mentioned the challenge of coming up with new content every day for 30 days. And that’s probably one of the biggest obstacles most people see when considering 30 posts in 30 days. That’s why you want to plan your content.
But take that planning one step further and plan to create the content for a product as you write your blog posts. Perhaps you have an ebook you’ve been meaning to write. Do a part of it each day as your blog post. Or maybe you’re launching a new member site. Write a post for that new course each day as your blog post.
As an added benefit of posting future product content on your blog, you’re able to get audience reaction and course-correct anything that may not be meeting their needs. Likewise, you get to show off the quality of your content to potential customers.
5. Repurpose your content.
Naturally you’re going to be creating a lot of content. But take that content and repurpose it into multiple formats. For example, each day’s blog post can be turned into an audio – which now becomes a podcast. It’s a great way to build a podcast listening audience as you write.
You can also turn each article into a video article, recording it as a PowerPoint video. Then use that video as a marketing video or post it to your blog to enrich the readers’ experience.
There are so many ways to maximize your experience with the 30-Day Blog Challenge. These five tips just scratch the surface!

Jeanette:
Great tips for maximizing results from the challenge. Looking forward to it.
Thanks Jeanette for the Goggle Analytics tip!
I have used it on other sites (even my facebook fan page – http://facebook.com/DecisiveMinds) but had not yet put it on my blog. The fact that WordPress has so many great plugins made it super easy. Another great reason to do the 30 day blog challenge – it makes you do things you should have done a long time ago. Michele
As usual you’re guiding us on this trek and helping us be able to continue being successful after the challenge is over. I’m going to go to Google Analytics and set up the account for this blog now. Thanks for that.
I’m also going to make a sticky post to add my ethical bribe and keep it at the top
Thanks
Terrie
O.K. so todays the day, thanks for the tips, I’m really looking forward to day 30 to see how much we as a group have helped ourselves and each other, good luck to everyone.
Thank you for explaining how to maximize the value of this the 30-Day Blog Challenge. (My first two tweets were not formated correctly.)
The Meet Our Members blog is absolutely first class. Thank you for doing this for us!!!
Hi Jeanette,
I’ve never participated in any 30 Day Blog Post or Giveaway events before. You inspired me to jump on board and I’m having a blast! This has forced me to organize my content and to blog daily. I’ve been doing this for other people but not myself. So I just want to say…Thank You!
Robby – I’m just thrilled you’ve joined us! You HAVE been great at the behind-the-scenes for others and now you have a chance to shine. You’ll bring your wonderful attitude to this, I’m sure – and get a whole new group of friends! Welcome!
Thanks y’all for your kind comments. I’ve been pretty busy this first couple of days, so haven’t taken the time to respond individually. But I’m reading comments, making adjustment and just generally appreciating you!
2 days down – 28 to go! We’re doing great with over 200 participants. Lots of people to get to know. Lots of people to tweet and retweet. Lots of readers and comments. Enjoy the process!
