June 1 marks the kickoff of the next 30-Day Blog Challenge. Organized in 2009 by Connie Ragen Green , this is the fifth blog challenge.
The challenge involves writing a blog post daily for 30 days. Each post should be at least 150 words long and all of the posts should be posted to the same blog.
Originally the blog challenge was designed to bring more traffic to your blog. That’s because search engines love blogs and visit your blog after each post. And when they get into the habit of coming to your blog daily, they assume that your blog provides good relevant content – thus increasing your seach engine rankings.Plus writing a daily blog post gets you into the habit of writing on a regular basis. Since writing is so critical to both your traffic and marketing online, this is a valuable skill to cultivate.
But participants in the most recent blog challenge reports several other benefits in addition to building good writing habits and more traffic.
Many people reported that they formed new online friendships by reading and commenting on other participants’ blog posts. This brought an end to the feeling of isolation they had in building a business online – and let them know that there are “real” people out there who are ready to help, encourage, and motivate you.
Most of the participants reported increased confidence in their ability to write – and to produce content on a regular basis. Most of us assume we “can’t write” so this is great insight into what we are truly capable of doing. Knowing you can crank out 150 words on demand, day after day, goes a long way toward building your confidence – and your business.
A number of people reported an increase in focus and the ability to “go deeper” in their content. After all, if you write about a topic for 30 days, you WILL be able to cover a lot more information.
Now it’s your turn! Join us in the 30-Day Blog Challenge. It doesn’t matter whether we’re half-way through when you sign up. You’ll still be able to get a lot of value for your participation. Here’s how to join us today:
1. Go to JeanetteCates.com/30days Read through the guidelines and sign up.
2. You’ll be taken to the member’s registration page. Fill out your profile and add your blog information. This will only take a few minutes.
3. Write a blog post, then let me know about it at “blog challenge central” – my Twitter account. Just send a tweet that looks like this:
@JeanetteCates Blog post title URL #blog30
4. Search Twitter for #blog30 every day. Visit 2-3 other participants’ blogs. Read and comment on their blog posts. That’s how you get to know other people online – and build links back to your blog.
5. Get additional tips on building your blog traffic through the email series of messages you’ll receive as a participant – and at JeanetteCates.com/blog30
See you in the Challenge!

I cannot encourage people enough to join us in this great event. It has single handedly changed my outlook on my internet business. Plus with the new member’s directory that Jeanette created it will help you keep in touch with everyone in a much easier manner.
We are going to have a blast for a month…join us!!
I’ll also volunteer right here to interview anyone who wants to get an interview under their belt and wants something they can put on their blog
Thank you Jeanette for helping us keep that momentum going.
Terrie
Hello Jeanette,
This is exactly what I needed. I truly enjoy being a part of your Product Development Class, although I have had to really move at a slower pace than I would have liked, but I wanted to really share with you how much I have benefited from all of your good advice, the assignments, and the member’s comments on the site. That is one class, that will continue to help me through out my entire entrepreneural career.
Furthermore, this challenge has come at a great time in my life. I have been absolutely itching to start my own blog. I want something that is very informational, something with killer content, good copy, something very well optimized, and successful. I have been hard pressed to say the least, at finding a good starting point. I do not really have a good title with great keywords, but I figure if I just write about what I think people will really want to hear about, I can do it.
Thanks for offering this challenge, I am going to repost it on twitter because I think it’s an awesome challenge.
Take care
Lydia Hall
Hi Jeanette,
I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since I started my blog with you. You gave us such good directions for getting all of this going and I continue to keep it going – not on a daily basis, but quite frequently. This 30 day challenge sounds just like what I need. Plus, it’s always fun and helpful to “meet” other people along the way. I like that.
Best to you,
Lee Jackson
Jeannette,
Well, I feel kinda silly because I did not know that search engines visit my blog after each post. Now that’s motivation!
I have learned so much from being in your Incubator program. Thanks for the blog challenge.
Warmly,
Mary Ann Pine
Thank you so much for hosting this blog challenge. I really appreciate your tips, Jeannette. Why?
Somehow, I didn’t realize last time that I could search for #blog30 on Twitter to keep up with my fellows until nearly the end! I discovered many more people had been busy as beavers out of my radar range.
I was woefully inexperienced with Twitter and Facebook, so learning how to use them them on top of the blogging was time-consuming, confusing and I felt behind on the social aspect even if I was a day or two ahead on posts.
Better luck this time, eh? Looking forward to it and your wise counsel.
Thanks, Terrie, for your interview offer. I just may take you up on it after I get my feet wet reviving my older blog on home business. In the last challenge I blogged on knitting, which I know “all” about. Home business? Wannabee expert. Ha!
Jeanette ~
I love that the excitement is building before the challenge even begins. The last 30-day challenge was phenomenal. I can’t wait to see what happens this time!
Looking forward to reading some new blogs and meeting some new go-getter bloggers!
Participants: Please take Terrie up on her offer to interview you. She interviewed me following the last challenge and she’s so much fun to talk to!
Write On,
Melanie
This sounds like just what I need, thanks, I’ll be doing my best to keep up

I am so glad that you are continuing the blog challenge, Jeanette, and look forward to meeting more amazing bloggers and widening the range of blogs I visit. The camaraderie I’ve developed with some bloggers was wonderful and I look forward to ‘meeting’ more amazing people and perhaps creating new partnerships.
Terrie, I will take you up on your offer and do the same for you and others as well.
Woo hoo, can’t wait for this to start, Jeanette. I’ve changed my Twitter Tools settings to include #blog30 so it’ll all be automatic when I update for the next month.
I’ve already got 6 posts scheduled for June, and 12 audios in the process of being transcribed… going to knock out the remaining 12 audios for transcription right now.
i have no idea how to blog so any suggestions on how to get started would be good. i would like to take the challenge just to see if i can do it. thanks for any help.
Well now Dr. Cates, remember when you had the first online success program. This baby boomer and her husband had date night listening and learning from you. You helped us to take the plunge in the deep waters called WordPress when we created our very first WordPress.org blog. Now, there is no turning back.
So, this baby boomer is excited and on board with this Blog Challence.
Thank you and Connie Green for this wonderful idea turned to powerful action!
PS I am also looking forward to reading the posts of other bloggers. I just know it will be dynamic.
A friend sent me a link to this challenge – and I think we’re both going to try to keep up – so I’m going to go put together a couple of posts
Before signing up for this challenge, my goal was to put out just two blog posts each week and I totally missed last week… I obviously need this!
Looking forward to stepping up my game.
Thanks to all of you who commented before me. I am getting some great ideas, tips, and trick – not to mention inspiration.
Jeanette, this is just the discipline I need and at the precise time I need it. I’m looking forward to all the great ideas, the interactions, the getting and giving and being a part of this supportive community.
Jeannette, I love this! I’ve been slacking on one of my favorite blogs lately, and I need to get back on that horse. I’m in! Thank you!

Sure I like the challenge. I have been thinking about blogging but it seemed out of reach for me. I would probable write on spiritual things which is my nitche. I don’t know how that would go over.
